Our mission at Westminster School is to provide students with a classical education, which emphasizes challenging academics, invigorating athletics, and a vibrant arts program.  In addition to the studio art, drama, and music classes that all students take, they also have the option to join Westminster’s orchestra program, which begins in third grade with instruction in violin, viola, and cello, with bass offered beginning in 5th grade.  Depending on student interest, percussion instruments may be added.

Orchestra students have a weekly 40-minute lesson with a professional instructor.  Participants are grouped with others of similar experience for two orchestra rehearsals per week, and they perform in various concerts and events throughout the school year, both out in the Northern Virginia community as well as at Westminster, including the full school music programs that take place in December and May.
